Activities Drakensberg South Africa

Activities

There is no other place in South Africa that gives such a multitude of activities to be pursued. Options can be as diverse as your imagination travels. Trekking is perhaps the most popular activity that every visitor to the region wants to participate in. Most of the resorts in this region would happily arrange for horse riding in the hillside depending on the time and budget you have.

Hiking

Dont miss the hiking opportunities that any good hotel or camping organiser or resort would arrange for your, albeit for some extra bucks. Steep heights and rugged terrain of varying levels of Drakensberg provides perfect challenge for mountain biking, but then where is fun without any challenge?

Other activities like bird watching, river swimming, and trout fishing look good if you want to spend your holiday in perfect solitude. For the visitors who can make some good stories out of lines and graphs, rock paintings of the Bushmen in many parts of Drakensberg should come as a good opportunity.

Drakensberg is home to a quarter of the indigenous wildlife in South Africa. Some of the species that you may encounter frequently are eland (largest of antelopes), grey rhebuck, mountain reedbuck, serval cat, and jackal.
