Plettenberg Bay
Plettenberg Bay is the jewel of The Garden Route. Its more than a village; Plettenberg
Bay is tranquil and charming, hospitable and rather special. Originally christened "Bahia Formosa" (beautiful bay) by early Portuguese explorers, Plettenberg Bay can now be accessed by first class national roads, by sea or by scheduled air flights.
Plettenberg Bay is an activity centre with excellent beaches and a lively atmosphere but suffering from severe style deficiency. Whales like to hang out here and varied marine trips are popular, as is the enjoyable and informative Monkeyland sanctuary 10 miles east.
Golden Beaches
Plettenberg Bay is characterised by sweeping, unspoilt golden beaches, a dramatic rocky peninsula, intriguing lagoons and estuaries, towering indigenous forests and unpolluted rivers and sea. With its exceptional climate, and beautiful view sites over the Indian Ocean, Plettenberg Bay is perfect for tourists interested in exploring, watching or
just lazing.
Lookout Beach
Plettenbergs isolated Lookout Beach, backed by large, well vegetated dunes would be the choice of the beach connoisseur here. The little town is something of an activity centre where you can find endless marine possibilities, including sailing or kayaking with dolphins and surfing lessons in addition to hiking and horsing around.
